Shmoop Answers:

1. What is the opposite of 9?  6th Grade Math Semester A

Answer: B) -9. The number that is also 9 units away from zero but on the other side is -9. All we had to do was change the sign.

2. Which one is a pinyin initial? Chinese I Semester A

A) o
B) a
C) m
D) e

Answer: C) m. The pinyin initials club includes a lot of letters, but it does have one rule: no vowels. You won't find a single a, o, or e among its illustrious ranks. M is the only consonant among our options, making it the only letter eligible to join its fellow pinyin initials like zh,q, and z.

4. Form refers to an artwork's ____, while function refers to its ____ . AP Art History Semester A

Answer: B) Bingo! No element of surprise here—the line, shape, space, color, and texture all work in concert to give each artwork its own pizzazz. In terms of function, Justin Bieber said it best: "You've given me purpose." In a non-Bieber, AP sense, the function refers to what art is trying to accomplish and why it's there.
